ROLAND has been present in North America for over 15 years. Before being established as an independent company in 1996 the company was initially represented by the well known sensor companies Turck Multiprox and Sick Optic Electronic.


Roland develops, manufactures and markets sensors and electronics for the sheet metal processing and tire industries. In 1997 it aquired the Double sheet Detector line of Peco Controls Corporation in California.

Depending on the application several sensor principles are available: - Magnetic leaking flux, eddy current, magnetic leaking flux and eddy current combination - Vision outside sensor - Laser inside sensor The new PC-based Weld seam Detector SND40 combines the strengths of analog sensor technology with digital signal analysis for the special requirements of Weld seam detection. The tried and proven magnetic leaking flux sensor, new types of eddy current probes as well as vision and laser sensors make the SND40 a highly flexible Weld seam Detector. The PC-based units features menu dialogs with touchscreen, fieldbus and Ethernet interfaces. In addition to detecting Weld seams in metallic coils and tubes with diameters ranging from 5 to 500 mm, (.2 to 20 inch) vision and laser sensors can used to solve applications with non-metallic materials.
